At Westwood XC Camp, our motto is the following: "The Camp where athletes get stronger, teams get closer, and friends are made!" Hence, in addition to everything running, we also believe in fostering individual leadership, team-building, and social interaction through a weeklong competition called Color Wars. Upon arrival to Camp Winadu, all campers are separated into one of twelve different Color Wars teams. Over the course of the week, these teams compete in icebreaker competitions and structured team games such as volleyball, ultimate frisbee, trivia, gaga ball, or speedball. Teams are also encouraged to compete in three Gladiator Challenges during unstructured times with activities such as Spikeball, Can Jam, Ping-Pong, Corn-Hole, and Plank Contests. On the second to last day, all teams compete in two seeded heats of the Frank Mooney Triathlon Classic. Based on the Triathlon, we then host a semi-final games between the top four teams. With each team selected to be a competitive mix of students from all communities, these Color Wars activities not only promote a lot of new friendships and leadership opportunities, but they are also a lot of fun.
